ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the California College of Arts (and Crafts, as it was called then), Oakland, in 1972. During the years I spent in art school, I became interested in what felt to me like a mystical state that I fell into when I was creating art, and I turned my attention to trying to understand that. To that end, I began working with one of the pioneers of the Human Potential Movement, Claudio Naranjo, MD, during those years and that has led to decades of inner work.
While I never wanted to rely on my artwork to earn a living, as I felt that it would lose its magic for me, it has been a companion throughout this journey. I love to show on paper and canvas the beauty that I see in the world around me, a beauty that is the embodiment of our deepest nature. In recent years, I’ve become more and more interested in plein air and landscape painting, working primarily in oil.
